What mass (in g) of NaCl (s) is required to make 500.0mL of a 3.0M

Given:

Molarity, M=3mol L¯¹

Volume, V=500mL=0.5L

To Find:

Mass of NaCl.

Solution

As, Molar mass of NaCl is 22.9+35.45=58.35g

And, M=n÷Vᴸ

Also, as, n=m/M.M

⇒ M =  \frac{m}{M.M. \times V }

⇒3 =  \frac{m}{58.35 \times 0.5}

⇒m = 3 \times 58.35 \times 0.5

⇒m = 87.52g
