Dissolve Ca(OH)2 [ Calcium Hydroxide] powder in water to form its aqueous solution called LIME WATER.
Now pass CO2 gas through the solution.
You will observe the Lime Water turn MILKY and then COLORLESS (when excess CO2 is passed) due to formation of CaCO3 (Calcium Carbonate) and Ca(HCO3)2 [Calcium Bicarbonate] respectively.
