The basic function of any monitoring tool is to collect and help you to visualize data so you can take quick an effective action. Cloud Watch offers two levels of monitoring : Basis (no charge) and detailed. Basic matrices for some services are automatically applied and seven free selected matrices are freely available for EC2 instances should you choose to enable them. Basic monitoring will generally provide checks in every five minutes.
