what previous experiences led Chris to falsely believe he would be fine in Alaska

Chris McCandless was an American hitchhiker who loved to take long walks and travels along some of America's remotest places.
He has previously completed several lenghty hiking trips in remote areas including sailing in the colorado river. This led him to falsely believe he would be fine in Alaska's great open cold lands.
However, his dream of living simply on Alaskan land came to a tragic end as he died of starvation in 1992.
Chris McCandless was a young man who went inside the wilds of Alaska but did not return from there. He died after 132 days.
What is known is that in April 1992, Chris’s driver dropped him at the stampede trail of Denali National Park.
Chris was equipped only with light ration proportions, wellington boots, gun and a backpack.
It is unknown as to why he wandered off into the wilderness of Alaska being a college graduate and not having much experience to survive in such contingent situations.
