The scribes who copied them introduced changes. As a result historians have to read different manuscript versions of the same text to guess what the authors had originally written.

It is also very important for a historian to study the sources rationally and with an objective approach whiel studying medieval history. Thsi is so because most works were written by aithors who wanted to please the rulers.
