In both nuclear and chemical reactions, two physical quantities are seen to be conserved and unchanging: the number of particles and the total charge. A constant number of particles in nuclear reactions does not imply that mass is conserved.

Question :-

What quantities are conserve in nuclear reaction?

Answer :-

In a nuclear reaction :

These are conserved :-

(i) mass

(ii) energy

Total mass of reactants will always be equal to the total mass of the products.

Total energy released will always be equal to the total energy that the reaction began with !

This is according to the Law of Conservation of Energy which states that :

" Energy can neither be created nor destroyed and it can only be changed from one form to another "

The same applies to the mass !

Hope it helps !
