What reaction would take place between copper sulphate and Magnesium? On what basis can we predict the displacement reaction of metals with salt solution of other metals?

magnesium becomes coated with copper. the blue colour of the solution fades as the blue copper(II) sulfate solution is replaced by a colourless magnesium sulfate solution.

Displacement reactions are easily seen when a salt of the less reactive metal is in the solution. During the reaction: the more reactive metal gradually disappears as it forms a solution. the less reactive metal coats the surface of the more reactive metal.
