Guru Amardas Ji was the third Guru among all Gurus and he was born on 5th May, 1479. His role was very important in the society as he had made many social changes for the betterment of people.
He introduced the reforms on Death, Birth, and Marriage ceremonies in the society. He worked hard to abolish the 'Sati system' and advocated the re-marrying of widows.
He lifted the status of women by giving them equal status in the society and he strictly prohibited the practices of 'Parda' system. He protected the rights of women and prohibited the female-foeticide.
