In humans' the sex of the baby is determined by the sperm. The sperm gamete is heterogamatic because approximately half of them contain the X chromosome which will result in a girl and approximately half of them contain the Y chromosome which will result in a boy.

there x and x chromosomes in female
and x and y chromosomes in male
when there is sexual contact
the male releases x and y chromosomes and
if x chromosome of male gets in contact with x chromosomes of female. The baby born will be a GIRL and
if y chromosome of male gets in contact with x chromosome of female. The baby born will be BOY
so we can say that sex determination depends on chromosomes
