Given - Sum

Find - Number

Solution - According to the question, the equation that will form is -

x +  \frac{ - 3}{4}  =  - 1

Rewriting the equation as per sign convention

x -  \frac{3}{4}  =  - 1

Shifting the value of Left Hand Side to Right Hand Side. The equation will be -

x =  - 1 +  \frac{3}{4}

Performing addition of values on Right Hand Side

x =  \frac{( - 1 \times 4) + (3 \times 1)}{4}

Performing multiplication of numerators

x =  \frac{ - 4 + 3}{4}

Performing addition of numerators

x =  \frac{ - 1}{4}

Hence, the value of x should be -1/4.
