let x should be subtracted from -3/4 to get -5/6

-3/4-x =-5/6
-x=-5/6+3/4
-x=(-10+9)/12
-x=-1/12
therefore
x=1/12

Let the unknown number be "x"

-3/4 - x = -5/6

- x= -5/6+3/4

-x  = [ -10+9 ]/12

-x = -1 /12

 Hence , x = 1/12
