let's replace ? with x

1/2 x 3842 + 15/100x=2449
1921 + 15x/100= 2449
15x/100= 2449-1921=528
15x = 52800
x = 52800/15
x=3250
hence ? is equal to 3250. hope it helps

Solution:

To simplify the expression apply BODMAS rule

 \frac{1}{2} \: \: of \: 3842 + 15\: percent\: of \:? = 2449 \\ \\ 1921 + 15 \:percent\: of \:? = 2449 \\ \\ 15 \:percent\: of \:? = 2449 - 1921 \\ \\ 15 \: percent\:of \:? = 528 \\ \\ \frac{15}{100}? = 528 \\ \\? = \frac{528 \times 100}{15} \\ \\ ?= \frac{52800}{15} \\ \\? = 3520 \\

Thus ? =3520

Option (a) is correct.

Hope it helps you.
