The British Empire was the Mightiest Empire in the world at that time. Funds,Weapons,Technology -you just name it- the Britishers had it all.
On other side were the rebels who were basically “peasants in uniform “. Rebellions in most area were sporadic and disjointed. There was no coherent plan of action among disparate groups of rebels. In many villages, peasants took to fighting with cudgels, axes and broken swords. And their opponents were professionally trained well-armored British Soldiers armed with Bayonets and Musket Rifles.
