Answer:

In Ramayan, Urmila was the younger daughter of King Janak and Queen Sunaina. She was Sita's sister. In some versions, it is said that she was the incarnation of Ksheera Sagar. It is said as Sita was known by different names such as Janaki (the beloved daughter of King Janak), Maithili (princess of Mithila), Vaidehi (as King Janak was known as Videha), Bhumija (daughter of Bhumi), Urmila was also known by the name Sunainasuta (i.e. the darling daughter of Queen Sunaina). Urmila was the biological daughter of King Janak and Queen Sunaina while Sita was their adopted daughter. Sita and Urmila grew up with their cousins Mandavi and Shrutakirti. When Sita married Lord Rama, her sisters Mandavi, Urmila and Shrutakirti were married to Rama's brothers Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughan respectively. When Rama was exiled, Sita and Lakshman accompanied him. Urmila wanted to accompany them but Lakshman hesitated and asked her to stay back. To take care of his brother and sister in law, Lakshman had to wake up day and night so Nidra Devi, the goddess of sleep gave his share of sleep to Urmila and she slept day and night. It was due to this that Lakshman was able to kill Meghanath. 14 Years later,Lord Rama came back along with his companions and was crowned the king. Twelve years later, Sita sought shelter from Bhumi Devi and Urmila is said to have been merged along with her sisters. In some versions it is said that when Lord Rama took Jal Samadhi, after that she lived with her children and Luv Kush, sons of Lord Rama and Sita and she died. Her soul reached to Lord Rama and Sita.
