A magnifying glass (called a hand lens in laboratory contexts) is a convex lens that is used to produce a magnified image of an object.
Convex lens is used in a camera Because the camera needs to capture a bundle of light rays originating from a particular point on the subject and reaching the lens; and converge them to a single point at the plane of focus where the film or sensor is.
We have convex lenses in our eyes. The eye needs to focus light rays coming from far places to our retina, so it is a convergent i.e. convex lens.
Hope it helps
