The author tells that he saw his grandmother been so old and wrinkled for the twenty years he had known her and that it was hard to believe for him that she had once been pretty and had even had a husband .
The portrait he saw of his grandfather, hung above the mantelpiece in the drawing room, who wore a big turban and loose-fitting clothes. His long, white beard covered the best part of his chest and he looked at least a hundred years old . The author did not find him the sort of person who would have a wife or children but as if could only have lots and lots of grandchildren.
