Duma was an elected parliamentary consultative committee whose work was to keep the king's authority in check.This government was elected by tsar after the 1905 revolution as a way to satisfy the rebels.

The Duma was a Russian committee which presided over making legislative decisions.

It was appointed by the Tsar in 1906, and was in existence till the revolution of 1916, when It was dissolved.

In the modern times, the concept of state Dumas have been brought back since the dissolving of the USSR, to maintain the state level administration.
