The Rinderprest arrived in africa in 1880.Within two years ,it spread in the whole continent reaching cape town(Africa's southernmost tip ) within five years.
1.The germs of these diseases were carried by infected cattle imported from British Asia to feed the Italian soldiers invading Eritrea in Eastern Africa. The rinderprest killed about 90%of the cattle.2. The loss of the cattle destroyed the African livelihood.
3. Planters , mine owners and colonial govt. now successfully monopolised what scarce cattle resources remained,to strengthen their power , and to force the African into the labour market.
.4.Control over scarce resource of cattle enabled the European colonisers to conquer and subdue Africa.
