rowlatt acts, (Feb 1919), legislation passed by the imperial legislative council, the legislature of British India. the acts allowed the arrest of certain political cases without a trail in court.

in the pretext of preventing extreme activist the British parliment passed the rawlatt act in 1919limiting the civil right.the comitte which recommended this act was led by sir Sydney rowlatt. as per this act any person could be arrestedand imprisoned without trial
