Domino effect is a chain of events which leads to other similar events. When the communist government was extending its influence in Vietnam under Ho Chi Minh, the US policy makers became concerned as this could have a domino effect resulting into the estabnlishment of communist governments in other countries

¤The domino theory was a theory prominent from the 1950s to the 1980s that posited that if one country in a region came under the influence of communism, then the surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The American failure to prevent a communist victory in Vietnam had much less of an impact than had been assumed by proponents of the domino theory. With the exception of Laos and Cambodia, communism failed to spread throughout Southeast Asia.
