First battle of Panipat was fought in 1525 between Babur and Ibrahim Lodhi.
Lodhi had a large army compared to Babur, but with use of a very mobile cavalry and artillery, Babur won the day.
After that the Delhi Sultanate came to an end. Lodhi was dead. Babur became the new emperor. Later, he defeated Rana Sanga in Khanua. His armies raided north India, killing Hindus and destroying temples (best example : Baburi Masjid by Mir Baqi). Muslims were also killed.

The 2nd battle of Panipat was fought in 1556 between Raja Hemachandra (Hemu) and AKBAR (BTW, it was Bairam Khan).
After the death of Humayun, Hemu attacked and won Delhi. He declared himself the new Emperor. He was commander of Afghan army.
Then AKBAR attacked him. Both armies met in Panipat. Hemu fought like a warrior in the middle of the battle. Whereas AKBAR and Bairam Khan watched it from their tents. They were safe in those tents, miles away from the real scene.
A stray arrow hit Hemu's eyes. But still, he fought till he became unconscious. His forces lost the moral. He lost the battle which was nearly won by that stray arrow.
Later, Bairam Khan beheaded Hemu on orders of Akbar (unlike that shown in movies).
After This, HEMU or RAJA HEMACHANDRA became the last Hindu to rule from Delhi. And this battle established the rule of Mughals in India. They ruled till 1857 when Bahadur Shah Zafar was sent to Rangoon by the British.
