Newtons corpuscular theory of light hypothsises that light is particle in nature.

By accepting this theory light can be approximated to travel in straight lines constituting light rays. This gave rise to ray optics or geometric optics.

It succesfully explains rectilinear propogation of light, splitting of white light in prism, refraction and reflection.

It fails to explain diffraction, interference, double diffraction, photoelectric effect, Compton effect and Raman effect.

Against this, Christian Huygens devoloped wave theory of light. Currently dual nature of light is accepted concept.

If it helps, mark it brainliest.

In short it states that light is made up of small particles and light travels in a straight path.
