Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board is a statutory board which was formed on 25th October 1956 by the Punjab Government under section 3(1) of the Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board Act 1955.
It comes under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. It is highest level organisation in India with regard to khadi and village industries.
The main purpose of the organisation is to establish and develop khadi and village industries in the rural India through a series of planning, promotion, organising, facilitating and assistance. They are in constant touch with agencies who are engaged in rural development to achieve their objective
In 1957, it overtook the reins from former All India Khadi and Village Industries Board.
