The Indian National Congress was also split to two different groups called Moderates and Extremists because Moderates wanted to go against British in a peaceful manner but Extremists wanted to go against British in a violent manner but the aim of both was to expel or suppress the British Empire from India.

Answer:

The partition of Bengal drove the rise of extremism in INC. The Moderates held a secret meeting and decided to expel the Extremists. The Moderates and the Extremists patched up their differences for a year, but in 1907 the two groups permanently split.
