The financial strain of servicing old debt and the excesses of the current royal court caused dissatisfaction with the monarchy, contributed to national unrest and culminated in the French revolution of 1789

There were mainly five causes for the French revolution and they are:
*social inequality was a reason responsible for the revolution in which the third state was forced to pay taxes whereas the remaining two estates were exempted from paying taxes.
*long years of washes had drained the treasury and to pay of the debt the king raised the tax which agitated the third estate.
*THE growing population of france demanded food but the agricultural production could not keep.pace which led to subsistence crisis in the nation.
*A new class emerged in the society who had liberal opinions and demanded equality and freedom for the king.
*THE general assembly called by the king in which the king rejected the third estates plea to grant one vote to each of the member caused protest and disapproval against the king.
