Most of the pollution in Calcutta is due to the emissions from motor-vehicles. A high number of these vehicles use low grade fuels such as the 'kankatel' which is a deadly mixture of kerosene and petrol. Rickshaws have been found to be the worst offenders in terms of pollution as many of them use the low grade fuels.
