Causes of deforestation under colonial rule in India are -

1.To increase the production of agriculture colonial people started cutting down of forest.

2.Forest wrre needed in railway. In railway wood was used for making sleepers and used as fuel.

3.Forest were needed for making ships and boats.

4.Forest were considered as the symbol of backwardness .So,to civilized the masses it was cut down.
