The indignities that Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar had to face as a child in school are given below:
- When in school, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was not allowed to enter the class. This was so because he was considered untouchable.
- Because of the above reason, he was also made to sit outside the class, on a gunny bag.
- Many teachers considered it polluting, and that's why he was neither questioned, nor his questions were answered by the teachers.
- Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was not allowed to drink water from the same tap or vessel that other students used to drink. For him, some peon used to pour water from some height as he was not allowed to touch either the water or the vessel that contained the water.
- On the days when peon was not present, Dr. Ambedkar had to stay thirsty.
- Once he was too thirsty and drank water from a common tap, as a result of which, he was severely beaten.
