Land of non-Brahamana peasant proprietors. Shalabhoga: This refers to the land of the maintenance of a school. Devadana, tirunamattukkani: Land gifted to temples. Pallichchhandam: Land donated to Jaina institutions.
But the most common was the giving of land and sometimes whole villages for the benefit of the temple. Generally they were known as devadana, tirunamattukkani and tiruvidaiyattam. Like their predecessors, the Pallavas, the Chola kings were great patron of temples.
