Dobereiner made groups of three elements having similar chemical properties called Triad. The limitations of Dobereiner’s method of classifying elements are listed below -

• All the known elements could not be arranged as triads.
• Newly discovered elements failed to fit into the triads.  

• It is not applicable for d and f-block elements.
• Only five Dobereiner’s triads were identified.
