Haha...interesting question. If I go with the precise moment of August 1947, I would term the political situation as a political vacuum. The political leaders lost the purpose and significance once the independence was announced. Political vacuum also because there was no other political party in India then to challenge the ideology of the Congress party. The term 'domestic politics' wasn't introduced to India then. If not dictatorial, it was near totalitarian leadership prevailing in India. M K Gandhi was the final authority and his unconditional love for Nehru sealed the face of the nation.
