Displacement reaction will occur when iron fillings are added to the copper sulfate solution. The perfect reason for this reaction is that Iron is more reactive than the copper. Copper sulfate solution will become as a ferrous sulfate solution as a result of the reaction.

The reaction for the above description is

Fe(s) + CuSO₄ (aq) → FeSO₄(aq) + Cu (s)

Observation:

Color of the copper sulfate solution – blue

The color of the solution will change into light green at the end of the reaction.
