what will happen if only one crop is grown repeatedly in one soil?

The soil when used for cropping repeatedly will get damaged and will lose its fertility.... Hence, to prevent this happening, the lands are often left uncultivated so that the soil gets time to gain back it's fertility

If one crop is grown in the same field seasons after seasons, the soil will become deficient of that particular nutrients that the crop requires. Therefore it is better to grown one crop in one season and another crop in the next season. This will help the soil retain its fertility. The best way to do is to perform crop rotation. Crop rotation refers to the process of growing crops in succession in the same or soil
