Several metabolites are produced during muscle contraction like chloride, potassium, lactic acid, inorganic phosphate etc. Accumulation of these products leads to metabolic fatigue in muscle by disturbing the whole pathway of release of Ca+2 ions and hinders the sensitivity of actin and myosin toward Calcium ion. High concentration of potassium decreases the efficiency of muscle cells.
