Louis lives with his aunt Mrs. Beauwhistle. Dora Jane stays with them. Beauwhistle get's a letter that Dora Jane's enemy is coming to the house on Thursday. Louis tries to scare Jane by telling her that Sturridge the butler is going to kill her and succeeds in making her leave, but is surprised when Beauwhistle get's a letter that the enemy has postponed her visit. Louis collapses into a chair in sheer disappointment and shock.
