The electric switches are made by plastics it is a poor conductor of heat when these are heated they lost their shape. So the electric equipment will be destroyed and may lead to electric shock.

Materials generally fall into two categories: Conductors and Insulators. Conductors as the name suggests, are good conductors of electric current. Metals are the most common conductor. Insulators on the other hand are poor conductors of electric current. Most non-metallic materials such as ceramic, rubber, and plastic are good insulators. Conductors and insulators are often found together in electrical components. For example a wire consists of a metal core (usually copper) to conduct electric current, and an outer insulator jacket to prevent the conductor from coming into contact with other conducting surfaces and creating a short circuit. The human body is a relatively good conductor of electric current for reasons I won’t go into here, so electrical components such as switches need to employ a good insulator to isolate the conducting surfaces from the human operator. Plastic is cheap and can be molded into just about any shape, hence its wide-spread use in electric outlets, switches, and electric appliance housings

Hope it helps u
