What would happen if producers were removed from an ecosystem?

this would create an imbalance in the ecosystem as consumers depend on the producers and if the producers are removed then their would be no source of food for the consumers..EX-if all the trees are removed from the forest then this would create a problem for animals like herbivores such as goat,elephant which completely depend on trees for their food.
