the process is called endocytosis it swells up as the water concentration outsiside the cell is high compared to inside so water moves inside through endosmosis

The process involved is osmosis. The spontaneous passage of water molecules from a region of high water concentration through a selectively permeable membrane to a region of low water concentration is called osmosis.
