Given :

  • A die is thrown .

To Find :

  • Probability of getting a prime number .
  • Probability of getring a number which is greatef than 5 .

Solution :

\longmapsto\tt{Total\:Outcomes=6}

= 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 .

1. Probability of getting a prime number :

\longmapsto\tt{Favourable\:Outcomes=3\:(2,3,5)}

\longmapsto\tt{Probability=\frac{No.\:of\:Fav.\:Outcomes}{Total\:No.\:of\:Outcomes}}

\longmapsto\tt{\cancel\dfrac{3}{6}}

\longmapsto\tt\bf{\dfrac{1}{2}}

So , The Probability of getting a prime number is 1/2 ..

2. Probability of getting a number greater than 5 :

\longmapsto\tt{Favourable\:Outcomes=1\:(6)}

\longmapsto\tt{Probability=\frac{No.\:of\:Fav.\:Outcomes}{Total\:No.\:of\:Outcomes}}

\longmapsto\tt\bf{\dfrac{1}{6}}

So , The Probability of getting a number greater than 5 is 1/6 ..
