The vertical velocity of a projectile of initial velocity \displaystyle\bf{u} and angle of projection \displaystyle\sf{\theta} is given by,

\displaystyle\longrightarrow\sf{u_y=u\sin\theta-gt}

Hence it depends on the angle of projection, and therefore, the vertical velocity is not the same for projectiles thrown with different angles of projection though with same initial speed.
