Aluminium leaves of electroscope:

  • Electroscope is used to determine the presence of electricity.
  • Leaves are present in gold leaf electroscope.
  • When a charged object is brought near electroscope, the charge of the metal rod polarises its charges.
  • If the object is negatively charged and when it is brought near electroscope, the upper part of the metal rod in electroscope becomes positively charged and lower part of the electroscope becomes negatively charged.
  • Since, two leaves attached at the bottom of the rod has same charges, so, both leaves repels.
