.Lets say the two no.s are X and Y

So, according to the question.. when X is divided by 12, the dividend (here X/12) becomes 1/4th of the other number (i.e., Y/4).

So, X/12 = Y/4

X/3 = Y

X = 3Y.

So, the first number X is three times the second number Y.

If one thing is three times as big as another than it is also 300% of it.

i.e., X is 300% of Y and 200% greater than Y.

To explain in simple, Begin with 10. 100% of 10 is also 10. So, to increase 10 by 100% means to add 10 on to 10 which makes it 20. This is the same as doubling 10 to make 20.

So, an increase of 100% means the same as doubling. It should not be difficult to understand that an increase of 200% should mean the same as to triple.

Finally… X is 300% of Y, or X is 200% greater than Y.
