HENCE WHEN COPPER WIRE IS DIPPED IN SILVER NITRATE ( AgNO3 ) SOLUTION FORMING COPPER NITRATE WHICH IS BLUISH GREEN IN COLOUR. THIS IS A DISPLACEMENT REACTION. A SHINING GREY WHITE DEPOSIT IF SILVER IS FORMED ON THE COPPER STRIP AND THE SOLUTION BECOMES BLUISH GREEN DUE TO THE FORMATION OF COPPER NITRATE.

When copper is added to silver nitrate, copper displaces silver from its solution and form copper nitrate which appears like blueish green colour. It is a displacement reaction.
