when dilute HCl is added to egg shell a reaction occurs between the acid and calcium present in the shell

egg shells are just the same as marble , they contain calcium carbonate CaCO3.
So when u react CaCO3 with HCl CaCO3 + HCl --- CaCl2 + H20 + C02 so u will see water + carbondioxide coming out.
