Dear Student,

◆ Conditions for defined interference pattern -

  1. Two light sources must be coherent.
  2. Light sources must be monochromatic.
  3. Superposition of ligjt waves is a condition.
  4. Intensity of light sources must be same.

(i) For two light waves to interfere constructively -

  1. Two light waves must be in same phase.
  2. Path difference between corresponding particles must be nλ.

(ii) For two light waves to interfere destructively -

  1. Two light waves must be in opposite phase.
  2. Path difference between corresponding particles must be (2n-1)λ/2.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
