Assumption-

 \sf \: let \:  the  \: side \:  of  \: square \:  be \:  x

 \sf \: Side \:  of  \: square  \: after  \: reducing = x - 2

Now,

 \sf \: Area  \: of  \: square \:  after  \: reducing = 49

\sf (Side)² = 49

\sf (x - 2)² = (7)²

\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\: \sf (Side \:after \:reducing = (x-2))

 \sf x - 2  = 7

\sf x = 7+2

 \sf x= 9

\boxed{ \sf{Side\: of \; first\: square = 9m}}
