When electrolysis of water is done then :
(a) Identify the gases evolved at cathode and anode. (write equations also)
(b) Why is amount of gas collecte in one of the other ? Name this gas .

(a)in cathode the gas evolved is hydrogen

and in anode the gas evolved is oxygen

(b) hydrogen gas evolved is 2times that of the oxygen gas evolved because in water two molecules of hydrogen gas and one molecule of oxygen gas is present
