When HCl ionises in water it forms Cl - and H3O+...so the question is why H+ combines to form a polyatomic ion despite that Cl - remains d same...?? If u r gonna say that H+ is unstable then I guess d same case is with Cl-... I want a gud, rational answer... plz

hey mate
when hcl get ionised in water it splits into
h+and cl-
and water polar protic solvent and it creates hydrogen bonding which make the bonding more stronger
but when it combines to form bond with cl it need sme energy to alter the rxn
but we it react with water no energy consumed
i hope u understood
