. When oil from a tin is poured through a funnel placed tightly into the neck of a bottle, the oil stays in the funnel. Why? Raise the funnel a little and place it again on the bottle. Oil starts flowing into the bottle. Why does this happen?

As air too exerts some pressure, it doesn't allows oil into the tin.. The tin which initially filled with air, restricts the flow of oil into the tin when we placed funnel tightly into the neck of the bottle such that the air cant find the way to escape out of the tin which on further blocks the oil.it happens because air also has presure and when the funnel is raised the air preasure from the bottle is released.

as there air in the bottle which doesn't have any other vent to move out, so oil stays in the funnel.
