The salts of heavy metals like silver (Ag) are generally insoluble and hence they precipitates.
The increase of acidity implies oxidation and simultaneously a decrease in the basicity is the reduction.
Since Ag+ is oxidized by an electron and Br- is reduced by forming the AgBr compound therefore it can be said that the reaction is a reduction-oxidation type (redox reactions).
This reaction is known as the double displacement reaction.
